Learning the SGML "tags" of "your" DTD isn't that difficult; but it's
appealing to the user to drag-and-drop elements, of course.  And it's
nice to have a WYSIWYG like preview.

But the interesting part is the management of IDs and references.
reftex.el does a great job concerning TeX/LaTeX (hi Dominik!).

This said, I'd like to remember you that people talked about making
Emacs GNOME aware...
