Reading canvasitem properties

Hai,

GnomeCanvas related stuff again...

If have nicely found examples on how to set a particular properties of
a GnomeCanvasItem with gnome_canvas_item_set.
Now I noticed that for example the GnomeCanvasText item has some
read-only
properties.

My question is : 
How do I read the values of these properties? 
I have not found some gnome_canvas_item_get function for this..
