Bonobo install

I'm trying to get gnumeric and xpdf going with bonobo. I compiled bonobo
from CVS and installed it, but when gnumeric configure script runs it
says it can't detect Bonobo 0.2.  I checked the source and it's running:

gnome-config --lib bonobo

to check for it, and gnome-config I have doesn't know anything about
bonobo.  What's a workaround for this?

BTW, how do you test sample container? It's not showing anything in the
list of available components.
