You haven't actually talked to the Linux kernel developers, have you?
They have repeatedly rejected all attempts to implement channel mixing in
the kernel, on the grounds that it is purely a userspace issue.
(That said, it's much easier and nicer when the kernel does it for you...
but Linux does not and *will not* have a kernel-based mixer.)
