gnome_canvas_pixbuf_get_type

for some reason this is giving me an error when i compile my program.  the 
compile line is:

gcc canvaspixbuf.c -o canvaspixbuf `gnome-config --cflags gnome gnomeui 
gdk_pixbuf gnomecanvaspixbuf` `gnome-config --libs gnome gnomeui gdk_pixbuf 
gnomecanvaspixbuf`

i get an error called "implicit declaration of function: 
'gnome_canvas_pixbuf_get_type' "

my gnome-libs is 1.0.55-9
my gdk-pixbuf is 0.6.0

i really appreciate any help; i just can't get this thing to work.
