gnome-print from console

Hello all gnome-print developers!

I'm just wondering, how easy it would be to implement at least some
gnome-print functionality without X?
I would like to implement printing from command line in Sodipodi (and
David Metcalfe has already done most of it) and it would be nice, if it
would be possible from console too. Jus imagine logging into machine from
anywhere (Windows telnet client for example) and still be able to
manipulate files (print, convert, see summary & so on).
