So today I decided I to try out Nautilus. I downloaded all the packages
mentioned in the HACKING file from CVS, and compiled them with
--prefix=$HOME/usr so as not to interfere with my current Gnome
installation.
There were a couple of things that I needed to do to make it work, in
particular linking the *Conf.sh files in $HOME/usr/lib to /usr/lib so
that gnome-config finds them (anyway to tell gnome-config to check
other directories for *Conf.sh files?) and installing some other packages
like makeinfo and libwww.
Anyay, I got everything (OAF, GConf, Bonobo, Gnome-VFS, GtkHtml, etc,
etc, etc, and Nautilus) compiled and installed in $HOME/usr. Then came
the big moment: typing nautilus at the terminal.
I got this:
sh: syntax error near unexpected token `(n'
sh: -c: line 1: `cp -R (null) /home/loban/Nautilus'
** WARNING **: could not execute 'cp -R (null) /home/loban/Nautilus'. Make sure you typed 'make install'
** ERROR **: file nautilus-file-utilities.c: line 191 (nautilus_user_main_directory): should not be reached

So, what happened? If I did something wrong, what was it?
Shucks ... so close yet so far ....
