gtkhtml _edit_; how to do?

I want to have a gtkhtml widget which should be editable, but I dunno
 how to get Gtkhtml being r/w; enabling the edit prop. only causes an
  error on startupo about a missing HtmlClue.

Is there any general way to get an edit-enabled gtkhtml "widget"? It's
 for the HEAD gtranslator if you're asking why all this nonsense.

I would likely also look at the gtkhtml list archives but ximian.com is
 dead for me...
