Problem (with ESD):
1. ESPEAKER does not get set automatically according to the X server's address
2. actual scenario:
X terminal starts ESD
X terminal starts X -query
User 1 logs in
(assuming ESPEAKER is set by some sort of script on the app server host)
User 1 initializes ESD with security cookie
User 1 plays sound
User 1 logs out
User 2 logs in
User 2 is refused ESD access because User 1 already used his security cookie
3. promiscuous ESD is not an option
4. ESD should have recording capabilities - maybe a new framework for multimedia
such as artsd fits the needs.
The goal is for the X terminal to become transparent. And not to forget: the
mixer application should control sound volumes through the sound server, not
directly on the hardware of the app server host.
