can i make drawing anytime without expose_event?

   During the display graphy process,wether can i just use gdk_draw_XXX to 


display graphy without the two drawing area event,configure_event and 
expose event

?Even using the double buffer,it still require use "gtk_widget_draw" to 
call the 

expose event.

   So how can i make drawing whenever i like?
