why zips unmount instead of eject in gnome 2.0?

Is there a reason why the Gnome 2.0 desktop only provides
an umount volume menu item for zip disks mounted on the gnome
desktop? The disk shows the correct icon for a zip so it seems
to know what the device is however there isn't a pull down menu
item for ejecting the zip disk as there is for ejecting cdroms.
I would think that for zip devices the unmount volume menu item
should be replaced with an eject volume or eject zip menu no?
