I'm not sure if anything other than the ROX desktop uses this.

Implementing that spec would require changes to both the file manager and applications. The file save dialog would need to be able to tell the application to save the document, and find out whether it was successful or not. This differs from the existing API where the app pops up the save dialog, waits for the user to select the file and then gets the filename from the dialog.

Also, the file selector would need to be able to get access to the saved document as a memory buffer in order to handle step (3) of the walk-through in the specification.
