Well... i want to put code in my app that is making it possible to record from the line in on the soundcard in choosen quality. also it would be nice if i could encode the soundfile to mp3.  have looked a bit on ALSA but don't know where to begin as I am a bit of a beginner in this topic :) 

I looked at Gstream and it looks intresting. thanks for the help :)
