"Cyrl" is not an abbreviation; it's a code.

and BTW, it "cyrillic" and not "cyrillyc"
You just illustrated why the use of ISO codes is better: you haven't been
able to write "cyrillic" properly, but you have been able to write the
code "Cyrl" :)

I see you are from Ukrainia; the reason why iso-8859-5 is lacking a letter
needed for Ukrainian is because the then USSR members of ISO said that
letter was not needed.
It isn't the ISO to blame.
