Paolo, what I see here is definitely a "pane", a part or section of a  
window.

The word "panel" in Gnome usually refers to the control panel, which  
does a very different job.

So you can understand why we were confused when you said they were  
the same thing. :)

If you change the word to "pane", then our translations will describe  
what is really happening: the information is being displayed in part  
of a window. That's good! :)
