GMC problems

[bourne holyfire com (bourne)]

I've compiled mc 4.5.29
When i try to run it ,
I got this error msg: "Default icons not found, check installation" (when
i'm on X). I closed my X session , when i returned to console i saw these
msgs:
gdk_imlib ERROR: Cannot load image: /usr/local/share/pixmaps/mc/i-directory.png
All fallbacks failed.
/convert: No such file or directory
gdk_imlib ERROR: Cannot load image: /usr/local/share/pixmaps/gnome-default.png
All fallbacks failed.

# find /usr/local/share/pixmaps -name i-directory.png
/usr/local/share/pixmaps -name i-directory.png
# find /usr/local/share/pixmaps -name gnome-default.png
/usr/local/share/pixmaps/gnome-default.png
How can i fix this?
(I'm running Slackware 3.5)
