Sorry, can't help you there, I get the same problem.

If you quit the help browser and foot menu | log out, it should not appear when
you log back in. Works for me.
But if it doesn't work for you, or if you nuke ~/.gnome/session from time to
time, try editing {prefix}/share/gnome/default.session (or
{prefix}/share/default.session if gnome-core is pre-1.0.5 I think), where
{prefix} is /usr if you installed by rpm- just kill the lines starting with the
same number as gnome-help-browser.
