glib compile

I am tring to complie glib on AIX 4.3.3 and I am getting an error from
the -L/.libs which should be -L./.libs

libtool: link: warning: this platform does not like uninstalled shared

gcc -g -O2 -Wall -o .libs/testglib testglib.o -L/.libs -lglib -L/.libs
-L/usr/local/lib
collect2: Library libglib not found
make: 1254-004 The error code from the last command is 1.

Where / what do I edit to change the -L option?
