sound & WM

When I run an audio tool (cdcd, tcd..) without a window manager it works
fine.

When I run the enlightenment WM the very same CD players won't work:
they will get stuck and not play at all, or jump from track to track
in a few seconds without sound (sound was enabled in E). 

Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks,
