Problem with gmc

Hi all,

I can't start gmc. The problem is it can't find the libext2fs.so.2 file.
Natural cause: it's not present on my system (SuSE 6.4). There is only
the libext2fs.a file. Is it possible to generate the .so file , and if
yes how. I tried gcc -shared -o libext2fs.so libext2fs.a ,but then he
complains about missing symbols.
