hi there
helix-update is allready very easy to use and a great application.
my sugestion to make it even better:
on suse 6.4 a user can´t start it. it will tell you, you are not the
superuser and will stop. why doesn´t it start, even download the
applications and when installing, ask for the password.
helix-update is only usable for helix updates. why not installing say
"sendmail" on your computer by hand (rpm). Sendmail will add an url of
its home server e.g. www.sendmail.org/download/latest/ to the helix -
configuration file e.g. /home/user1/.gnome/helix-update.rc or
whatever...
When a new round of bugfixing in sendmail is finished and the next
version is available helix-update will check and will present the
possible sendmail download option. The update - program could easily
become the universal update-program !!!
Is it possible to combine helix-update with wget, so disrupted
downloads are resumable?
Olaf
