It seems like gmc needs to to a better job of placing icons based on the presence and placement of panels.

Hi,
One observation I have is that the presence, placement and movement of
Gnome panels seems to cause no appropriate event notification message
informing applications such as gmc which portions of the desktop are
currently obscured.
For example, The Helixcode panel at the top of the screen obcures the
top 30-40 pixels all the time, yet gmc places icons beneath that panel.
Likewise with my other panels. I'd like gmc to redisplay and reposition
its icons so they are not hidden beneath panels.
