Since this apparently seems to be an X related issue and not a Gnome issue
anymore i am now in the wrong mailing list. My appologies.

Well, I did a clean workstation install via ftp. So not an upgrade but
a new install.  Apparently it automatically selected X4. X3 worked fine 
for me on RH6.2 with the SVGA server. I have no clue why the install "gave" 
me X4. I asumed it just was the standart in RH7.0.

Nope. ftp. so no support :-)

Yea. prolly about the "ZAxisMapping 4 5" which is in there by default.
Or did i miss something there?
