Check your system with top, it will show what's holding things up.
I found something (which I cannot remember now) that starts up and stays running possibly after nautilus or mozilla. Anyway I removed mozilla and nautilus and that other program (which I forget) by using rpm -e . My system is back to normal now and I use Opera as a web browser since Mozilla is to slow for my Pentuim 233.
