Deactivate filesystem icons ?

  Is there any way to deactivate the icons of the
 currently mounted filesystems in the upper left
 corner (~/.gnome-desktop) ?

  I've deleted them all but when I mount f.ex. a
 CD they all return (I have 2 CD-ROMs, 1 ZIP
 and 5 NFS shares mounted but I don't want to
 have the icons on the desktop).
