Re: theme manager problem

For the theme manager, just killall -9 fam as root after trying to
launch it and it pops right up. The latest version of Dropline GNOME
includes an icon on the menu that does exactly this (it's labeled
"Fix hanged control center" and runs a binary with PAM-support to
kill fam and get around the root user requirements).

For the other stuff, it looks like the session manager
(gnome-session-manager) is causing the authentication problems, and I
don't know enough about that to help.
