Some questions

Hi!

I have just started using GNOME and as usual there are some questions
that arises... :)

First, I would like GNOME not to set the background at all since I set
that with xsetroot, how would I do this?

Second, I don't like those 2 default icons (home and trash) on the
desktop, how can I get rid of them?

Someone said something about apps -> nautilus -> preferences ->
show_desktop in GConf editor, but I don't have show_desktop, I only have
3 options there (start_with_statusbar, start_with_toolbar and
start_with_locationbar).
