You may also see l10n and even a11y by the same analogy: localisation
and accessibility. i10n and l10n are used as abbreviations by other
projects. I don't know whether a11y is. I think that one is just
a Gnome thing. For now... :)
Nah, it's common. You only see it in free software in GNOME because
we're about the only project that cares about it in free software
(though KDE is thinking hard.)
