Re: Help with Solver

1)I think the constrains are obviously. If not the problem has no sense.
In your example the answer is no production and sold infinity.
2)When you give eg B5<2400000 and B6<B5 you have a solution
3)I think solver has an error. You should give the data in lines not
in columns as you did.
Please change the data
B1 to A1, B2 to B1, B3 to C1, B5 to E1, B6 to F1, B8 to H1, B9 to I1,
B11 to K1, B12 to L1, B14 to N1 and B16 to P1
Then put the constrains. I made so and I obtained the solution
If I put the problem as you writed it I got No solution answer.
I have Slackware 8.0

I am using Gnumeric 1.0.9 and the solver doesn't work for me. After trying to maximize a cell I get the

Solver was not successful: 4

What am I doing wrong? Attached is the file I am using. I am trying to
maximize cell B16 by changing cells B5:B6. This happens with or without a constraint. By the way, this
happens any time I try to use the solver, not just with this file.

I'm using Debian SID and its build of gnumeric.

Thank you. -Bret Gundersen
