I'm thinking about that too; I'd like to make gretl/gnumeric
inter-operation as easy as possible.  In the meantime, could you
suggest a canonical source for the meaning of the "ValueType" codes in
gnumeric cells?  As in

<gmr:Cell Col="1" Row="0" ValueType="60">val</gmr:Cell>
