Re: gnumeric 1.0.5 xml linking error

Oops! My little "trick" did at least get gnumeric-1.0.4 and 1.0.5
compiled, but thanks for pointing out the real problem with my
installation. Will fix the xml-config and xml2-config files as you
suggest.

Thanks again,
Ron

I was having the same problem. Checked my /usr/include directory and
found that I had two xml subdirectories: gnome-xml and libxml. Changed
the name of libxml and gnumeric-1.0.4 compiled without a hitch. Then
changed the name of the libxml subdirectory back to it's original name.
Didn't need to uninstall or reinstall anything.

  If you have a /usr/include/libxml or /usr/local/include/libxml
subdirectory, you're in trouble.
  Libxml1 includes are under $prefix/include/gnome-xml
  Libxml2 includes are under $prefix/include/libxml2

Any $prefix/include/libxml would be a remain of an old libxml
or libxml2 installation and must be removed.
Then make sure that xml-config --cflags and/or xml2-config --cflags
points to the right directories.
