It doens't know explicitely about iso8859-15, that's right. But it seems
this problem is related to the way Gtk+ parses font descriptions or
maybe it passes wrong structures around. Since everything not using Gtk+
works normally and every application using Gtk+ to draw text fails with
the message that couldn't open the font it just displayed nicely in
the fontdialog, it's quite obvious that something is not working as
expected. This behaviour is reproducable among all applications using
Gtk+ which allow the user to choose a font.
