Good thoughts.  As more folks make known their need for win95 or win98
support, more care will likely be taken to make such win9x backports
(and future backports) easier.

Feel free to vote for or against deprecating gtk+ support for win95,
win98 and winME here:

Note that votes alone probably aren't enough to ensure continuing
support.  It will require developer time and testers to make sure it
continues to work.

From Tor's original email, it sounds like he doesn't currently have a
system to test Win9x support with.  Is anyone else offering to do this
testing?

If maintaining Win9x support turns out to be non-trivial (getting
Cairo running properly may be, for instance), is anyone willing to
help with the development.

Given limited resources, developers will usually focus on the areas
that will benefit most users.  For Windows, this means making it work
well on NT derivatives.  For X systems, it means making it work well
for systems with RENDER.
