Apparently libguile has compilation issues.
You can try to install the package from Fedora so that jhbuild would
not have to compile it for you.

[root localhost patrick]# yum list|grep guile
guile.x86_64                             5:1.8.4-1.fc9          installed
guile-cairo.x86_64                       1.4.0-6.fc9            installed
guile-cairo-devel.x86_64                 1.4.0-6.fc9            installed
guile-devel.x86_64                       5:1.8.4-1.fc9          installed
guile-gnome-platform.x86_64              2.15.93-6.fc8          installed
guile-gnome-platform-devel.x86_64        2.15.93-6.fc8          installed
guile-lib.noarch                         0.1.6-1.fc9            installed

I don't have i386 versions installed.

It seems like I'm missing a dependency that the guile package assumes that I have.
