    Anyone else seeing this problem?

Aye! I dont say everything is slow, the desktop is rather snappy and
folders open quite fast. But if I hit reload on the desktop, it takes
ages. It adds some icons to the desktop, waits, adds a few more, waits
etc. Takes about 30 sec if it gets bad. Then other times it works in an
instant. Go figure..

Was there a bug in 1.0.4 that made it
always wait until everything is loaded that had these positive effects? Does
the Red Hat version have this problem?

Yes, there was a bug so it didnt do the incremental loading. Now I think
the incremental thing is good for large dirs, but it should figure out
the sort order first, and then add the things in the right order so they
dont jump around, but rather the first ones in the sort are rendered
first and icons get inrementally added to the end.

I am about to do the 1.0.5 release, but I'll hold for a few hours until I
hear more about this. Worst case, we'll do a 1.0.6 to fix this.

Frank "Mr. Mozilla" at Ximian says he has bugzilla'd some mozilla 0.9.5
patches. 0.9.5 will be released Really Soon he says, and it breaks
binary and source compatibility with earlier versions, so it is a very
important issue for Nautilus. I think it would be good to have those
added to the next release so our users wont break their mozillas right
away. Check those from here:

     http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=62001

Frank said he would be very happy if it was included, even inside
#ifdef's to avoid a lot of pissed users when they go and upgrade their
mozillas and the nautilus mozilla component explodes because of that.

Cheers,

Tuomas
