How not to use Nautilus 2.2 to draw the desktop ?

I understand that the "Use Nautilus to draw the desktop" option from
Nautilus 2.0 disappeared in Nautilus 2.2 since it was indeed a power
use feature and should not appear in the general user preferences.

I was wondering if it is still possible to enable that option through
gconf-editor or through a config file option of some sort.
