Hi,
I have to say that I am quite concerned about the usability of the new
interface. I have not tried it yet-- at the moment I am trying to find
out when Debian packages become available. When they do, I will
definitely try out GNOME 2.6 and the spatial interface, but currently
the most important feature I can think of is its ability to be switched
_off_ permanently (i.e., make the old 'browse' interface the default
again).
So: can it be switched off? And: will the browse interface remain in
Nautilus (in GNOME 2.8 and beyond)? Otherwise, most likely I will switch
away from GNOME (at least if I dislike the new interface, which I kind
of expect; it is too close to old GEM/Windows/OS2 behaviour). So I try
to decide wether to bother at all. If things are not decided, I would
propose supporting both usage paradigms at least equally. Not everyone
is going to like 'going spatial'.
Regards,
Robert
