creating links and .desktop files.

hi,

is there a possibility to create links as .destop files (via dnd) ? i
would like to create a link from a directory on an remote machine (sftp,
smb, ... ) on my desktop. at the moment nautilus wants to create an
symlink and doesn't like url's ...
also, i would like to have a possibility to edit existing desktop files
( change target, url, type )  instead of deleting the old one and
creating an new one.
