We've long wanted to do this, however part of the reason its not been
done yet is that its a little more complicated than your patch. We want
the state to be related to the window, not the view. So, if you change
view, or browse to a location using another view, the hidden setting
isn't forgotten.

Also, we probably want to group the show backup prefs with the hidden
toggle, like we do for the prefs dialog.
