This is for all files. Very small files are not thumbnailed, but instead the file itself is used as the thumbnail.

Confirmed, image is scaled so that max(heigth, width)
is set to default icon size. As for the size treshold, is it
hardcoded, or is there any way to tweak it to suit my needs?

hmmm...
i see now.
small-on-harddisk files are scaled to the size of icons (like folder-icons for example),

and big-on-harddisk files are scaled to the 'thumbnail-size'.

imho this should be submitted to bugzilla as a bug, because (imho) it is always better to downscale to thumbnail size.

gabor
