Just want to add that I'm seeing this too. I could browse SMB
networks
just fine with earlier releases and I can't now. I'm not 100% sure
the
blame lies only with gnome-vfs/nautilus since we've upgraded to
Windows
2003 in recent times.

This problem has been around for quite some time now. It's a gnome-vfs
problem that affects nautilus rather than a nautilus problem and it has
an open bug logged against it. If you are so inclined you could search
the archives for gnome-vfs to find the actual bug number. As far as I
know there is no planned fix date.
