You asked below whether key echo would accomplish the same thing.  For what
I was thinking, it would not, since I'd usually know when I'd pressed the
right keys.  What I'd want to know is whether something was copied or pasted
to the clipboard.  If it works so that I get the announcement whether the
copy or paste happened or not, and if the screen reader can't actually give
me that info, then yes, the announcement is worse than useless.

Would key echo accomplish the same thing?

For my part, I turn off key echo and character echo in Orca. The only time I
want to know what function a key press does is if I'm in help or tutorial
mode. I find anything else to be just too chatty. This is why if anything is
implemented here, it should be configurable.
