Re: [orca-list] Wanting to move back to Linux

Thanks for the advice everyone.

Yes if I could find something that was as expansive as the Kindle library yet DRM free I would be a very happy reader.

Still perhaps I can find a way back in two Linux anyway. Might have to do a bit of experimentation with VM‘s.

Warmest wishes

That does sound like something they'd do. Thank goodness for unprotected EPUB files. If you use Bookshare, you can always download EPUB files from there and read them in an ePUB reader, like Epr in the terminal.

I just tried the Amazon Cloud Reader. Unless I'm missing something, the pages appear to be displayed as images. It also loads with an alert saying something along the lines of "screen readers are not currently supported in Cloud Reader, please open this book on the Kindle app on your device." Perhaps it was updated and is no longer accessible?

Ah yes, Kindle, I'd forgotten that's mainly what he wanted. Yeah, I'm not sure how well the web reader for Kindle works with Orca. I think I tried it about a year ago and found it frustrating because the lines were all really short, something like that.

Just to clarify, note that no#v-mode handles epub files and not any of the various kindle formats.
