Just to let you know, there's http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?
id=146336 in bugzilla which hasn't been applied yet, but which improves
the CORBA interface a bit (it doesn't do what you are planning to add
though).

I think walters's goal is to make it optional so that you can enable
corba, dbus or whatever you want at compile time.
