Fantastic.

The GLib/GObject way looks very horrifying no doubt, but I think it
will be necessary.  So I might possibly have to learn some GLib basics
and come back to this.

Unless...are there any Vala bindings for Rhythmbox?  I wonder if they
would be difficult to create.  I am relatively competent in C#.
