Sorry this one I nearly forgot about...
Just tested it, and you're right, file-roller depends upon a suffix to
determine the archive-type. But I wouldn't consider that evil
DOS-stuff... file-roller can't expect a default filetype, and is it
possible to determine the archive-type purely from looking at the
contents? There's no shebang or identification as I could see when
opening the archive with less.
So either it's a bad implementation by file-roller, or balsa should
take care of preserving the suffix of files, at least those who can't
be identified precisely by their content. Shouldn't be that hard to
append the suffix to the random string, no?
