we were thinking on making the gnome-remote-shell tool in gnome-network
register itself as the handler for telnet:// in GConf.

Not sure yet if this is a great idea or not, but if it is, all apps
could do that, xchar register itself for irc://, remote-shell for
telnet:// and (ssh:// maybe), ...
