Although I avidly support the current simplification of the Gnome
interface, removing all but the menu panel mode is going too far. Keep
sane defaults, yes, but don't enforce it completely. I hate the default
setup, and if the menu panel is the only mode available, then it's even
LESS configurable then Windows.
