As far as I know, it does not yet, but will as soon as gstreamer does.
So it will probably go into GNOME2.8.

I see three reasons:
Firstly, for Rhythmbox, you need to organize your files into a database.
Assuming your files are completely unsorted (which is probable when they
do not have tags) or you use XMMS to play the files you may not want a
database.
Secondly, I doubt that Rhythmbox adds mass tagging capabilities. This
would probably "bloat" the whole application.
And thirdly, Cantus is a general tagger, Plugins for non-audio tags can
also be added.
Anyway, I am the author of Cantus, so maybe I see reasons that are not
really there ;-). I am open for comments.
