Sorry if this wasn't clear. I guess an example will help:

[Desktop Entry]
Type=Application
Name=Totem Movie Player
Name[fr]=Lecteur vidéo Totem
GenericName=Movie Player
GenericName[fr]=Lecteur vidéo
...
